Sacred to the memory of VALENTINE SWEARLIN marine. A native of New Stadt Germany. He died on board the U.S. Ship "Plymouth" June 20th 1849. Aged 27 years. The monument is erected by his messmates the Marine Guard.

In memory of ELIZABETH PEARSON whose truly disposition had endeared her to all who knew her and whose conduct as a wife and a mother during a union of 20 years was most exemplary. This monument is erected by her sorrowing husband. Died at Lintin 31st March 1858. Born in London 22 October 1794. "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be his holy name."
